San Felipe Del Rio CISD and Region 15 Teacher of the Year Patricia Villarreal was among forty 2023
Regional Texas Teachers of the Year who were recognized at an awards ceremony today at the Kalahari
Resort & Convention Center in Round Rock, Texas.
The Texas Teacher of the Year program has honored excellence in classroom education since 1969. The
program, facilitated by TASA since 2011, annually recognizes and rewards teachers who have demonstrated
outstanding leadership and excellence in teaching. Mrs. Villarreal, a 5th grade teacher at Lamar Elementary
School, was selected as the 2023 Elementary Teacher of the Year for the District in May and the Region
15 Elementary Teacher of the Year in July. Laura Strube, Deputy Director for ESC 15 stated, “We are
extremely honored to have her represent our region at the state level.” This is the second time Mrs.
Villarreal has been named as SFDRCISD’s Elementary Teacher of the Year and the second time she has
represented the District at the regional level.
Attending the ceremony was Dr. Carlos Rios, Superintendent, and Mrs. Iris Oca, Principal at Lamar
Elementary. SFDRCISD is honored to congratulate Mrs. Villarreal for her outstanding achievement and
proud to have her represent our District, Region 15, and our Del Rio community!

San Felipe Del Rio CISD y la Maestra del Año de la Región 15 Patricia Villarreal estuvo entre cuarenta 2023
Maestros Regionales del Año de Texas que fueron reconocidos en una ceremonia de premiación hoy en el Kalahari
Centro turístico y de convenciones en Round Rock, Texas.
El programa de Maestro del Año de Texas ha honrado la excelencia en la educación en el aula desde 1969. El programa, facilitado por TASA desde 2011, reconoce y premia anualmente a los docentes que han demostrado destacado liderazgo y excelencia en la enseñanza. Sra. Villarreal, maestra de quinto grado en la escuela primaria Lamar School, fue seleccionada como Maestra de Primaria del Año 2023 para el Distrito en mayo y la Región 15 Maestro de primaria del año en julio. Laura Strube, directora Adjunta de ESC 15 declaró: “Estamos extremadamente honrado de que ella represente a nuestra región a nivel estatal”. Esta es la segunda vez que la Sra. Villarreal ha sido nombrada Maestra de Primaria del Año de SFDRCISD y la segunda vez que lo hace representó al Distrito a nivel regional.
A la ceremonia asistieron el Dr. Carlos Rios, Superintendente, y la Sra. Iris Oca, directora de Lamar
Elemental. SFDRCISD tiene el honor de felicitar a la Sra. Villarreal por su destacado logro y
orgullosa de que represente a nuestro Distrito, Región 15 y nuestra comunidad de Del Rio!
