Del Rio, TX - On August 19, 2020 a person wishing to remain anonymous contacted a
Del Rio Police Department Investigator wishing to report a crime. It was the person’s concern
that a 2-year-old child could have been experiencing sexual abuse at home outside of our
jurisdiction.
The complainant only had a social media profile name of the male suspect and a possible area
where the suspected male could be residing.
With the limited information on hand. Del Rio Police Department Investigator opened the
investigation and contacted the local FBI office for assistance.
Approximately three weeks later, the Del Rio Police Department Investigator received a
telephone call from a family member of the child wishing to know why Child Protective Services
wanted to conduct a welfare check on their child.
It was at this time that the local investigator was able to obtain full identifying information for
the child victim and her family along with their home address. The local investigator
furthermore, expressed her concerns about the child and urged the parent to report the
incident to law enforcement in their jurisdiction.
On September 15, 2020, the Del Rio Police Investigator received a call from an Ector County
Detective requesting information on the case. Both Investigators met at Del Rio Police
Department where evidence and reports were exchanged.
On May 26, 2022, the Del Rio Police Investigator received a telephone call from the Ector
County Detective to inform her that the suspect identified as Fabian Andres Ortega, 23 years
of age, was found guilty for the offense of Aggravated Sexual Assault of Child and was
sentenced to 50 years without the possibility of parole.

Del Rio, TX - El 19 de agosto de 2020, una persona que deseaba permanecer en el anonimato se comunicó con un Investigador del Departamento de Policía de Del Rio que desea denunciar un delito. Era la preocupación de la persona. Que un niño de 2 años podría haber estado experimentando abuso sexual en el hogar fuera de nuestra jurisdicción.
El denunciante solo tenía un nombre de perfil de redes sociales del sospechoso masculino y una posible área donde el presunto hombre podría estar residiendo.
Con la información limitada a la mano. El Investigador del Departamento de Policía de Del Rio abrió la
investigación y se puso en contacto con la oficina local del FBI para obtener ayuda.
Aproximadamente tres semanas después, el Investigador del Departamento de Policía de Del Rio recibió una llamada telefónica de un miembro de la familia del niño que desea saber por qué los Servicios de Protección Infantil quería llevar a cabo un control de bienestar de su hijo.
Fue en ese momento que el investigador local pudo obtener información de identificación completa para la víctima infantil y su familia junto con su domicilio. El investigador local
además, expresó su preocupación por el niño e instó a los padres a denunciar la
incidente a la aplicación de la ley en su jurisdicción.
El 15 de septiembre de 2020, el Investigador de la Policía de Del Rio recibió una llamada de un empleado del condado de Ector. Detective solicitando información sobre el caso. Ambos investigadores se reunieron en la policía de Del Rio.
Departamento donde se intercambiaron pruebas e informes.
El 26 de mayo de 2022, el Investigador de la Policía de Del Rio recibió una llamada telefónica del Ector
Detective del Condado para informarle que el sospechoso identificado como Fabián Andrés Ortega, de 23 años, fue declarado culpable por el delito de Agresión Sexual Agravada a Menor y fue
condenado a 50 años sin posibilidad de libertad condicional.
