Update: ticket sales for playoff start Tuesday, Nov. 10

SAN ANGELO–Friday night's title tilt show-down between the Bobcats and Panthers with a capacity crowd in attendance of 17,500, delivered as promised; offenses eating up huge real estate yardage while a late tenacious defense, it was the Bobcats who delivered, not a highly-ranked Panthers defense. Both Cats and Panther fans witnessed the leading passer in the district, Central quarterback, Brennen "Cool Hand" Wooten, twice when it counted, 3rd and 4th quarters, deliver two crucial passes against a Panthers stone-wall defense that had only allowed 8.1 points-per-game. The Wooten-led high octane offense put up 27 points to the Panthers 20 to send Odessa Permian home with their first loss of the season. More importantly, with the win, the Cats (9-1 on the season) (4-1 in the district) clinched a share of the District 3-6A title, in the process making it a three-peat. CHS previously win titles in 2013 and 2014.

With perfect weather conditions: cloudy skies and temperatures in the mid-60s, the Cats offense didn't  start out perfectly as they went 3-and-out on their first series. Then Permian gets on the score board with their first drive as Dekoda Delao, kicks a 27-yard field goal to make it 3-0.
Central comes back with Marc Cabrera kicking exactly from the same distance, 27 yards to tie the score.

Later in the second quarter, a Panthers' defensive back is called for pass interference on Will Grindstaff to place the ball at Permian's 14. From there, Wooten scores to put the Cats up 10-3 with 10:45 left before the half.

The Bobcats score again half-way through the second quarter. Wooten throws a touchdown pass, this one of the rainbow variety as he hits his 6"5' target, Adam West where only West can get to the ball as he outreaches his defender to haul in a 20-yard touchdown catch. It's now CHS 17, Permian 3.

Permian gets down the field quickly on their drive, primarily on a big pass play from quarterback, Trey Potter, to his receiver, Jack Fawcett, that sets up the ball at Central's 2-yard line. On the next play, Permian back, Brandon Bailey, scores to make it Bobcats 20, Panthers 10 which ends up being the half-time score.

In the third quarter, Permian's Bailey scores from eight-yards. On that scoring drive, Bailey did most of the damage carrying the load on the majority of the runs. Permian cuts into the lead to make it CHS 20, Odessa Permian 17.

Late in the third quarter, when the Cats had to have it, a big-time play, Wooten stands and delivers, throwing a perfect, deep pass down the middle of the field to Cal Vincent who scores from 42 yards out to put the Cats up, 27-17.
Permian's last points come on a 35-yard field goal by Delao to make it Bobcats 27, Panthers 20.

While that ends up being the final score, it's not exactly over as there is still plenty of time left on the clock with 3:41 left. With the Cats needing to keep the ball away from Permian's offense, Wooten again delivers, this time as he connects with Will Grindstaff on a third-and-10 play that sets up the ball at the 49-yard line.

In the fourth quarter, where championship defenses close out games, along the way, Permian had committed four costly turnovers attributed to a"sic-em"Cats defense; particularly the final key turnover when cornerback, Will Vincent, sealed the victory with an interception in the final minute of play for the 27-20 win.
