DEL RIO – And old acquaintances with the Del Rio Police Department is visiting the Val Verde County Jail once again, and again for gun-related charges. John Frank Lake, 47-years-of-age, of Del Rio, was arrested on July 19, 2016 on unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon charges.

Lake, who had been arrested on similar charges on June 22 as his Harley Davidson was abandoned after a chase, was busted this time in front of his residence, on the 100 block of Crestline Drive, after a traffic stop. Del Rio Police Department found he was in possession of a .380 Hi Point pistol.

Following the traffic stop, which was recorded at 6:53 p.m., a search warrant was petitioned by police officers and issued by Judge Cadena, prompting officers to search the residence at 8:56 p.m. Inside Lake’s home more weapons were found.

Police records indicate that a .44 Magnum revolver, a Marlin shotgun, and a disassembled Sig Sauer pistol, as well as 1,900 rounds of ammunition for the aforementioned guns were seized during the search.

Lake was transported to GEO facility. The investigation continues by the Criminal Investigations Division, with cooperation by federal authorities due to the gun possession charges.
