DEL RIO – A Del Rioan was pulled over on a traffic violation, and when he got nervous and was being patted down tried to swallow a baggie of cocaine. Eric Santos, 19-years-of-age, of Del Rio, was arrested on Sunday, September 4, 2016 on drug possession charges.

Del Rio Police Department records state that Santos was pulled over at the intersection of 14th St and N Main at 5:44 p.m.

The report states that Santos looked nervous while he was being addressed, and the police officer told him to get down from the vehicle and initiated a pat-down procedure.

While Santos was being patted down, the officer noticed that Santos was reaching for his own pants’ pocket. Santos, according to the report, pulled a baggie of a substance that field tested positive for cocaine, and was trying to swallow it.

Santos was arrested and is being charged with the possession of .2 grams of a controlled substance, penalty group 1. He was taken to the Val Verde County / GEO corrections facility, where he is also facing charges for tampering with physical evidence.
