DEL RIO – A man was arrested after allegedly taking a shopping basket loaded with meat out of Walmart on Sunday, August 28, 2016, without paying for the beef. The Del Rio Police Department was called at 7:24 p.m. and started looking for the suspect, who had already left the store.

After performing a search in the area, police officers located Pablo Vega, 27-years-of-age, hiding inside the Dollar Tree store. Vega he was accompanied by a minor.

Police officers recovered three briskets, four pieces of ribeye thin, and two pieces of ribeye steak, with an estimated value of approximately $175.

Vega was arrested and transported to the Val Verde County /GEO Corrections facility, where he is facing charges for the theft of property of more than $100 and less than $750. A family member took custody of the child.
