DEL RIO – Detectives with the Del Rio Police Department are looking for a suspect that allegedly struck a patron in the back with a chair while eating at a local restaurant, with no apparent motivation. The suspect could be facing charges for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The attack, which left Andrew Duran, 30-years-of-age with a shoulder pain, occurred on Saturday, August 27, 2016, just before 1:03 p.m. at the local Wendy’s restaurant, located on the 2200 block of Veterans Blvd.

According to the police report, the attacker, a man who was being escorted by an elderly couple, appeared to be challenged, and was controlled and taken out of the restaurant by the couple. The couple apologized for the incident.

The victim, the report states, will be pressing charges due to fact that the attack was unprovoked.

The case was turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division. The suspect has not yet being identified.
