DEL RIO – The Del Rio Police Department is investigating two unrelated cases of alleged child sexual abuse, both of them supposedly taking place on Wednesday, August 24, 2016. A man has been arrested and he is facing charges in one of the cases.

Douglas Immel, 40-years-of-age, was arrested on indecency with a child by sexual contact charges, on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 11:25 p.m. in the 100 block of Kings Way. Immel was accused of improper behavior with a 13-year-old girl.

The other case involves a supposed 16-year-old victim, which contacted an online friend and told him that she was being abused by her father.

The boy, who is a Del Rio High School student, contacted authorities immediately after being told about the alleged abuse. He befriended the girl on Facebook, and has not met her in person.

Investigators with the Del Rio Police Department are trying to determine if the outcry —first reported to Child Protective Services and turned over to the Police Department— is real or if it is only a hoax.

So far the identity of the alleged victim has not yet been confirmed.
