DEL RIO – A shoplifting call took and unexpected turn on Thursday, August 25, 2016, when a Del Rio woman was found in possession of a large amount of prescription medications. The woman was arrested and she is now facing charges for the possession of controlled substances.

Thursday afternoon, at 2:47 p.m., the Del Rio Police Department was called to the local Walmart, on 2410 Dodson Avenue, Del Rio, Texas. Asset Recovery personnel was holding a 19-year-old woman, identified as Clarissa Guadalupe Guerra, who was allegedly caught while shoplifting.

Officers with the Del Rio Police Department examined her belongings, and she was found in possession of 5.2 grams of Xanax, as well as 20 other prescription pills. She did not have a prescription for the aforementioned drugs.

Guerra was taken into custody and charged with possession of a controlled substance penalty group 3, more than 3 but less than 28 grams.
