DEL RIO – The Del Rio Police Department recovered a gun, and is following several leads after the kidnapping of a man from a local hotel, occurring on Friday, July 22, 2016. Detectives have evidence that could help identify one of the suspects, but so far no arrests have been made in this case.

Sources close to the incident revealed that the hotel employee —whose name has not been released— was forced into a pickup truck and taken to a different place. The victim was able to fight back, take the gun from his attackers, a male and a female, and apparently he tossed the gun out the vehicle.

The victim was later hit on the head with a bottle and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities have revealed that the attackers were guests of the hotel, but they have yet to confirm if the identity they used to check-in is real and/or matches them.

The victim was only identified as a 50-year-old male. The incident took place at a hotel located on 3800 block of Veterans Blvd, Del Rio, Texas. EMS paramedics were called to the scene, but the victim declined medical attention.

The case was first reported to the Del Rio Police Department on July 22 at 5:42 p.m.

The case is under investigation as an aggravated kidnapping by the Del Rio Police Department Criminal Investigations Division.
