DEL RIO – Continuing with its commitment to education, Border Federal Credit Union awarded $19,000 in scholarships to 42 high school and college students in BFCU’s field of membership. The scholarships ranged from $250 to $750 each.

BFCU staff hosts numerous events throughout the year to raise funds for student and teacher scholarships. The largest portion of the funds were raised at the annual golf tournament held in May 2016. With the members’ support, community and BFCU staff, the event was a success and allowed BFCU to continue giving back to the youth of the communities they serve. 

The recipients were chosen by a Scholarship Committee which is made up of volunteers that base their selection on the student's academic achievement, extracurricular activities and community involvement.

This year’s winners are Alejandra Adan, Monica Adan, Klarissa Alderete, Annalee Beltran, Adrian Bermea, Daniel Bermea, Joshua Cadena, Analysa Calderon, Amanda Castro, Sara Cirildo, Jenny Elizalde-Cruz, Ivanna English, Cristina Espinoza, Paola Esquivel, Karla Faz, Annissa Hope Figueroa, Olivia Flores, Monika Forester, Erykk Fuentes, Dubelza Galvan, Jacob Garza, Savina Garza, Juan Gonzalez, Dayna Green, Tomas Hernandez, Aaron Hurley, Breanna Jorgensen, Adriana Martinez, Priscilla Paez, Roque Peña, Myrella Ramon, Larissa Reyna, Eric Rivera, Serina Rush, Enrique Salinas, Alanis San Miguel, Gabriela Santos, Mason Stidham, Adriana Urueta, Vanessa Valero, Anissa Wittwer and Marlowe Zamora. 

The recipients of the academic scholarships include students from Del Rio, Eagle Pass, Brackettville and Comstock High Schools. Recipients of the Continuation of Education Scholarships are current students of Texas State University, University of Texas at San Antonio, St. Mary’s University, Sul Ross State University and South Texas Junior College.


DEL RÍO – Continuando con su compromiso con la educación, Border Federal Credit Union entregó 19 mil dólares en becas a 42 estudiantes de preparatoria y universitarios en el campo de los miembros de BFCU. Las becas van desde 250 hasta 750 dólares cada una.

El personal BFCU organiza numerosos eventos durante todo el año para recaudar fondos para becas de estudiantes y profesores. La mayor parte de los fondos se recaudaron en el torneo de golf anual celebrado en mayo de 2016. Con el apoyo de los miembros, la comunidad y el personal de BFCU, el evento fue un éxito y permitió a BFCU continuar respaldando a los jóvenes de las comunidades a las que sirve.
