DEL RIO –The Housing Authority of the City of Del Rio (HACDR) honored its 2018 high school graduates with a graduation ceremony at the Rotary Village Community Center on 309 N. Bedell Avenue. Three (3) of the twenty-three (23) students from various housing developments were awarded with academic $1,000 scholarships from the Housing Authority towards their college education.

Scholarship recipients Gabriel Ramos and Leticia Rodriguez delivered heartfelt, personal speeches about the challenges they overcame to be able to attend college and the plans for their future, bringing the audience to tears and applause.

In addition, keynote speaker Mayor Bruno “Ralphy” Lozano urged the new graduates to continue along their path of vision. “Never lose sight of your dreams or aspirations in life, because you never know where life is going to take you,” noted Mayor Lozano. “It is important to keep that vision and that dream alive, because if you can get there you can achieve many great things.”

At HACDR, we believe education is a cornerstone to a self-sufficient, productive and fulfilling life, so we make every effort to connect our residents to high quality educational opportunities. We are very proud of and have great expectations for the students who have risen to this occasion, and hope that our scholarships will provide them with some of the aid and self-confidence they will need to graduate at their respective colleges and lead successful lives. Congratulations to all of our scholarship recipients.
