EAGLE PASS — The United States Border Patrol’s Del Rio Sector is holding a press conference to discuss the Border Safety Initiative and the dangers of crossing the border illegally. The focus of the press conference is on the prevention of undocumented immigrant deaths and how Border Patrol personnel are involved in rescuing those in danger.

The Border Safety Initiative is a bi-national program designed to inform migrants of the dangers of crossing the border illegally as well as to equip agents with the capability of responding to those who are in life-threatening situations.

Location: Shelby Park, Eagle Pass, Texas

U.S. Border Patrol EMTs (Emergency Medical Technicians), BORSTAR (Search, Trauma, and Rescue) agents, airboat crews, and horse patrol units will be on hand to provide demonstrations related to health and well-being on the United States - Mexico border. They will display relevant equipment and assets tied to their life-saving mission.
A CBP helicopter and an Air Evac Lifeteam© helicopter will be present to interact with members of the media. The Office of Field Operations will also provide a static display.
