From those respective representatives included were: Monica Salazar, Vice President of Del Rio Parks Foundation, Eva Escobar DR Civic Center Administrator. Also, Janie Garcia H-E-B, General Manager, was the person who got the ball rolling when she encouraged Escobar to apply for a grant in behalf of the Del Rio Events Civic Center.

Conexión Del Rio newspaper first interviewed Salazar.

“Our Foundation is committed to enriching the quality of life for the community through the development of outdoor parks and recreational spaces in the City of Del Rio,” she said.

The Parks Foundation will be responsible for creating a desert garden landscape on the front grounds of the Civic Center, stated Salazar.

As for the second partner, H-E-B, it is the sponsor who awarded a $100,000 grant complete for phase one of the project.

The third representative, Eva Escobar, DR Civic Event Administrator, mentioned in a 2011 conversation that it would be nice to have a beautiful landscape for the Civic Center that was being remodeled at that time and the rest is history.

Escobar concluded her remarks, stating that the goal for the AUO project to be completed is November 12. The contractor on the landscaping project is Little Acre.

The AUO project completion is slated to mark the 25th Anniversary of the H-E-B Feast of Sharing on November 18th, 2017.
