Fourteen students tested on March 22, 2017, at Uvalde’s SWTJC Testing Center coming back home with a 100% passing rate. Electrocardiography is used to provide important data for the diagnosis of heart conditions. As EKG techs the students will be able to do important tasks such as administering EKGs, as well as Holter monitoring, stress testing, and identifying heart rhythms. This certification will increase opportunities for employment and will serve as an entry into the field of healthcare which they are pursuing. The EKG program is a new certification program within the Health Science Cluster in the growing Career and Technical Education (CTE) program which is opening doors to our students.
