DEL RIO,TX–This past weekend, the Del Rio Middle School robotics teams competed against 18 other high school teams in the Boerne Winter Classic, four of which were nominated for the top award and will now be traveling to Houston's South Texas Championship.  

All 6 teams competed in the semi-finals and 1 team, Fiesta Botz Blue, finished in second place, losing in the final match of the day.

Four of the DRMS teams were nominated for the top award. Team 59360A – Robo Squad Orange won the top award – the Excellence Award. 

The Excellence Award is the highest award presented in the VEX Robotics Competition. This award is presented to a team that exemplifies overall excellence in creating a high quality VEX robotics program. This team is a strong contender in numerous award categories. Excellence winners must have an engineering notebook.

This is the second time,  Robo Squad Orange has won this award this season. 

Four DRMS Teams are now qualified for the South Texas Championship in Houston Feb. 24th & 25th, 2017. 

This is the 9th year of the robotics program at DRMS lead by CTE – PLTW – Gateway To Technology instructor, John Reed.
