DEL RIO,TX–Otila Gonzalez, President of the Del Rio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, informed Conexion Del Rio staff of the topics that were discussed at the meeting held by the Del Rio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

“The meeting held, gave us an opportunity to take a look at this year's city report. The report outlined all the projects that have began and those that are to come.  We have to be mindful that without funds, there cannot be improvements done within our City.  I know that raising taxes is always a concern for our citizens and our board, but we have to take a look at our expenditures and weigh the possibilities of tax increases to allot for improvements.  All city improvements will create a more attractive community for businesses that will economically impact our city," said Gonzalez.

Gonzalez stated that throughout the year they host events such as  the Gala Dance, held in October, and a scholarship fundraiser to assist  them with raising funds for the cause.

"Currently we are displaying Amistad National Recreation Area as part of our efforts in economic development. We have several billboards displaying around surrounding areas, like Eagle Pass, San Antonio, Carrizo Springs and Eldorado,” commented Mrs. Gonzalez.

To join in the efforts, you may become a member as a business or as an individual.  The goal is to promote businesses, so they may prosper.
