Conexion Del Rio/Staff report
DEL RIO,TX–The U.S. Border Patrol is launching the “Se Busca Información” initiative (Seeking Information) in order to expand on consequences against dangerous smugglers operating in the Del Rio Sector area.
“Human smugglers have no regard for human life” said Acting Chief Patrol Agent Matthew Hudak, Del Rio Sector. “Smugglers subject immigrants to deplorable and dangerous conditions, financially exploit them, and often abandon them in the unforgiving terrain of the south Texas border.
“To smugglers, immigrants are nothing more than a commodity to profit from.”
The “Se Busca Informacion” initiative seeks assistance from the public in locating known smugglers exploiting the communities around Del Rio Sector. In coming weeks, the public may notice billboards placed at Border Patrol checkpoints and stations. The billboards, along with flyers, show the faces of suspected smugglers as well as a phone number to report any information. The targeted suspects are numbered and should be referenced when reporting.
These billboards and flyers are aimed at obtaining anonymous information on the suspects, potentially leading to a successful prosecution.
The Del Rio Sector urges immigrants not to trust their lives to smugglers and not to illegally enter the United States. The public is encouraged to take a stand against crime in their communities and to help save lives by reporting suspicious activity at 866-511-8727.
One call could prove beneficial in providing leads and intelligence to aid in removing these criminal organizations.
