DEL RIO,TX–"We are here to help and serve you."

Martin Whitehead Wardlaw, a native of Del Rio with family roots in Val Verde County since 1883, has dedicated his life in the ranching business.  Wardlaw began his career in politics at the age of 28 in his first commisioner's race.  For 8 years he held a position as County Commisioner for Precinct 2.  Wardlaw served the county as commisioner for 8 years in Precinct 4.  After more than two decades, Wardlaw felt it was time to return to the County Commisioner's Court.

Back in March primary election, Wardlaw did so with seeking a position for Val Verde County Commisioner, Precinct 1.  Wardlaw, a Democratic Party nominee, defeated Republican Party nominee Valeriano "Val" Cadena Jr. for the office by a margin of 727 votes.

"I want to see tax money well spent, the barrio and arroyo cleaned up, and serve our people here in Val Verde County," said Wardlaw.  "I appreciate all my supporters, workers, and voters!  It will be an honor to serve Val Verde County!"
