DEL RIO – The rash of stabbing incidents in Del Rio went one step further this Friday, August 12, 2016, when a man sustained lacerations to his arm and was also run over by an SUV, in what appears to be an episode of domestic violence.

The Del Rio Police Department was called Friday morning, at 3:38 a.m. to the Motel 6, where a man was complaining of pain in the abdominal area and presented knife wounds to his forearm. Upon arrival, officers learned that Roy Roman, 38-years-of-age, of Alpine, Texas, had laceration wounds to his left arm.

The man also reported been run over by a Chevy, Tahoe, which officers believe was being driven by his girlfriend. The couple were guests of the hotel.

EMS were called to the scene, and Roman was taken to a local hospital by ambulance, where he was being prepared to get airlifted to a different medical facility out of town.

Del Rio is going through a rash of stabbings, with Roman’s incident being the ninth one in exactly two months.

The first one of the string took place on June 12, 2016, when Manuel Morales, Jr., 53-years-of-age, was attacked at the 7th Street Pub and later succumbed to his injuries in a local hospital.

More recently, the eight stabbing of the series, occurred on Saturday, August 6, when Christian Rivera, 23-years-of-age, was reportedly attacked at the Star Park.

According to police records, officers responded to a call of a bloodied man walking and needing assistance at 9:20 p.m. EMS were called to the scene, and Rivera was taken to a hospital with laceration wounds to his right arm, in the biceps area.

Both of these recent cases are under investigation by the Del Rio Police Department Criminal Investigations Division.
