Conexión Del Río/Staff Report

DEL RIO – The Pete Gallego for Congress campaign released this Wednesday morning, August 10, 2016, a list of Del Rio supporters who are endorsing Gallego to represent Texas’ 23rd Congressional District in the upcoming November election.

Gallego represented the city of Del Rio for over 20 years during his time in the State Legislature. Pete’s support continues to grow by the day, and includes community leaders of all professions —from business leaders and elected officials, to educators and physicians.

“Donald Trump has made himself a local issue in Del Rio. He denigrates our veterans and our sons and daughters now in uniform, disrespects families of the fallen, wants to build a continuous wall along the border, and insults Mexican-Americans,” said Gallego in a statement.

“I’m proud to have carried Val Verde County every time I’ve been on the ballot here. As a voice for Del Rio, I will always call out anyone who shows such total disdain for our values, our community, and our kids.”

Gallego said that November 8 will be the date when Del Rioans will show their true colors, by casting their votes.

“On November 8, together we will show Will Hurd and Donald Trump what a strong voice sounds like and what it is that really makes America great – Americans from great places like Del Rio.”

Lyndsey Rodriguez, Gallego’s campaign spokesperson, said that real leadership means looking people in the eye and being honest with them.

“People in Del Rio know a dodge when they see one. We heard that Congressman Hurd didn’t bother to stick around for questions after his event in Del Rio last week.

“It seems Congressman Hurd has a hard time answering questions that are not emailed to his staff ahead of time. Will Hurd likes his questions like he likes his Dairy Queen ice cream – served soft.”
